GuruFocus Profitability Rank ranks how profitable a company is and how likely the company’s business will stay that way. It is based on these factors:

1. Operating Margin
2. Trend of the Operating Margin (5-year average). The company with an uptrend profit margin has a higher rank.
••3. Consistency of the profitability
4. Piotroski F-Score
5. Predictability Rank•

The maximum rank is 10. A rank of 7 or higher means a higher profitability and may stay that way. A rank of 3 or lower indicates that the company has had trouble to make a profit.

Profitability Rank is not directly related to the Financial Strength Rank. But if a company is consistently profitable, its financial strength will be stronger.

It provides financial services to individuals, families and businesses through its six banking offices located in the Nebraska counties of Cedar, Boone, Knox, Madison and Pierce. Its business consists of attracting retail deposits from the general public in its market area and investing those deposits, together with funds generated from operations and borrowings, in agricultural real estate loans, one- to four-family residential real estate loans, agricultural and commercial non-real estate loans, commercial and multi-family real estate loans, and to a much lesser extent, consumer loans. The Company's lending activity is originating agricultural real estate loans, one- to four-family residential real estate loans, agricultural and commercial non-real estate loans and commercial and multi-family real estate loans. It offers a selection of deposit accounts, including non-interest-bearing and interest-bearing checking accounts, money market savings accounts and certificates of deposit. The Company's portfolio segments are; agricultural real estate, agricultural and commercial non-real estate, commercial and multi-family real estate, and residential real estate and consumer. Agricultural real estate loans are comprised of loans for the purchase of farmland. Agricultural non-real estate loans are generally comprised of seasonal operating lines to cash grain farmers to plant and harvest corn and soybeans and term loans to fund the purchase of equipment. Commercial non-real estate loans are based on the identified cash flows of the borrower and secondarily on the underlying collateral provided by the borrower. Commercial and multi-family real estate lending typically involves loan amounts and the repayment of these loans is generally dependent on the successful operation of the property securing the loan or the business conducted on the property securing the loan. Residential real estate and consumer loans consist of two segments; residential mortgage loans and personal loans. The Company competes with Farm Credit Services of America, a division of the Federal Farm Credit System, a Government-sponsored enterprise, as well as Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.
