The UltraScreens(r) are more than 500 times bigger than a typical 19'television screen. The SuperScreen (SM) boasts a large, bright picture and digital sound featuring the Academy Award(r) winning Screen Array System. The Company's Hotels and Resorts own and manage a distinctive portfolio of hotels, resorts and other properties that are unique in their markets. The Company's lodging division, Marcus Hotels and Resorts, owns or manages 20 hotels, resorts and other properties in ten states, with three additional properties under development. Beginning with the Pfister Hotel in 1962, Marcus Hotels and Resorts has grown to become an industry leader, operating a nationwide portfolio of upscale hotels and resorts including InterContinental Hotel Group, Starwood and Hilton flagged properties. At each property its goal is to exceed guest expectations and provide a unique experience and comfortable atmosphere. Managing over 5,000 guest rooms, Marcus Hotels and Resorts applies a rigorous discipline of revenue enhancement, cost containment, and uncompromising guest service for the mutual benefit of the property owner and the management company. In each of its businesses it experiences intense competition from national, regional and local chain and franchise operations, some of which have substantially greater financial and marketing resources than it has. Federal, state and local environmental legislation have not had a material effect on its capital expenditures, earnings or competitive position. However, its activities in acquiring and selling real estate for business development purposes have been complicated by the continued emphasis that its personnel must place on properly analyzing real estate sites for potential environmental problems.
