Maple Leaf Foods Inc. was incorporated under the Canada Business Corporations Act on August 13, 1927, in Toronto, Ontario. The Company is a consumer packaged food company, headquartered in Toronto with operations across Canada and in the United States, United Kingdom, Asia and Mexico. Its segments include: Meat Products Group, Agribusiness Group and Bakery Products Group. The combination of the Meat Products Group and the Agribusiness Group comprises the Protein Group, which is involved in producing and marketing animal protein-based products. The Meat Products Group comprises value-added processed packaged meats; chilled meal entrees and lunch kits; primary pork and poultry processing. The Agribusiness Group comprises the Company's hog production and animal by-products recycling operations. The Bakery Products Group comprises the Company's 90.0% ownership in Canada Bread Company, Ltd, a producer of fresh and frozen par-baked bakery products including breads, rolls, bagels, artisan and sweet goods, and fresh pasta and sauces. The Company has national brands such as Maple Leaf, Schneiders, and Dempster's in the cupboards and refrigerators of its consumers. The Company also provides national household brands such as Olivieri and Maple Leaf Prime Naturally, and other brands including POM, Shopsy's, Mitchell's Gourmet Foods, Ben's, Bon Matin, Burns, Chevalier and Hygrade, and the New York Bakery Co. in the United Kingdom.
