Business Description

MakeMyTrip Limited was incorporated as International Web Travel Private Limited in Mauritius in 2000. The Company then changed its name to MakeMyTrip Limited and converted to a public company. The Company is an online travel company in India. Through its primary website, www.makemytrip.com, and other technology-enhanced platforms, travelers can research, plan and book travel services and products in India as well as overseas. The Company's services and products include air tickets, hotels, packages, rail tickets, bus tickets, car hire and ancillary travel requirements such as facilitating access to travel insurance. Its air tickets business is primarily targeted at domestic travel within India and international travel originating in India; and inbound travel to India from the United States and other countries. The Company provides its customers with a wide selection of airline tickets for all major domestic and international airlines including Air India, Air India Express, Go Air, Indigo Airlines, Jet Airways, Kingfisher Airlines, SpiceJet, Air India British Airways, Emirates, Lufthansa, Malaysia Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways and Virgin Atlantic. Through its websites, customers can search, compare and make reservations at approximately 4,000 hotels in India and outside India. It offers pre-packaged vacations designed by its in-house product specialists, under arrangements with various travel suppliers and its GDS service provider to cater to both individual and group travelers. The Company generates revenue through two main lines of business, air ticketing, and hotels and packages. Sales in its air ticketing business is primarily made through its websites whereas sales in its hotels and packages business is made mainly through its call centers, travel stores and travel agents' network. The Company's strategy is to expand its Hotels and Packages Business, Service and Product Portfolio, Travel Agents' network and pursue selective strategic partnerships and acquisitions. It has 19 travel stores in major cities including metropolitan areas across India, which primarily sell packages. The Company competes with cleartrip.com, expedia.com, travelocity.com, yatra.com, Cox & Kings, Kuoni India and Thomas Cook. The Company is subject to various laws and regulations in India
