Monro Muffler Brake, Inc. was incorporated in the State of New York in 1959. The Company provides automotive undercar repair and tire services in the United States. The Company has a chain of 937 Company-operated stores (as of March 30, 2013), three franchised locations and 14 dealer-operated stores. At March 30, 2013, the Company operated Company stores in 22 states, including New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Connecticut, Massachusetts, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Vermont, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, South Carolina, Indiana, Rhode Island, Delaware, Maine, Illinois, Missouri, Wisconsin, Tennessee and Kentucky. The Company provides services on passenger cars, light trucks and vans for brakes; mufflers and exhaust systems; steering, drive train, suspension and wheel alignment. It also provides other products and services including tires and routine maintenance services including state inspections. The Company competes in the retail automotive service and tire industry. The Company is subject to a number of federal, state and local environmental laws including the Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation and Liability Act.
