Monolithic Power Systems Inc is a semiconductor company, was founded in 1997. The Company designs, develops and markets proprietary, advanced analog and mixed-signal semiconductors. It currently offers products that serve multiple markets, including flat panel televisions, wireless communications, telecommunications equipment, general consumer products, notebook computers, cellular handsets, and set top boxes, among others. Monolithic Power combines advanced process technology with its experienced analog designers to produce high-performance power management integrated circuits for DC to DC converters, LED drivers, Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp backlight controllers, Class-D audio amplifiers, and other Linear ICs. The Company partners are manufacturing organizations to deliver ultra-compact, high-performance solutions through productive, cost-efficient channels. The product families that address multiple applications within the computing, consumer electronics, and communications markets Includes DC to DC converter ICs which are used to convert and control voltages within a range of electronic systems, such as portable electronic devices, wireless LAN access points, computers, set top boxes, automobiles and medical equipment & Lighting control ICs, used in backlighting and general illumination products. Lighting control ICs for backlighting are used in systems that provide the light source for LCD panels typically found in notebook computers, LCD monitors, car navigational systems,. The Company currently offers Class-D audio amplifiers, which are well-suited for applications that require both a small form factor and high power efficiency, such as plasma televisions, LCD televisions and DVD players. The Company operates in the cyclical semiconductor industry where there is seasonal demand for certain of its products. It works with third parties to manufacture and assemble its integrated circuits. Monolithic Power sells its products through third party distributors, value-added resellers and directly to OEMs, ODMs, and electronic manufacturing service providers. Its third party distributors are subject to distribution agreements with the Company which allow the distributor to sell its products to end customers and other resellers. The main competitors of the Company are Analog Devices, Fairchild Semiconductor, International Rectifier, Intersil Corporation, Linear Technology, Maxim Integrated Products, Micrel Inc., Microchip Technology, Microsemi Corporation, O2Micro International, ON Semiconductor, Richtek Technology Corporation, Rohm Co., Ltd., Semtech Corporation, STMicroelectronics N.V., and Texas Instruments.
