MasTec Inc is an infrastructure construction company. It is engaged in engineering, building, installing, maintaining, and upgrading energy, communication, and utility infrastructure in North America.

MasTec Inc was incorporated in Florida on March 11, 1994. The Company is an infrastructure construction company operating throughout North America across a range of industries. Its activities include engineering, building, installation, maintenance and upgrade of energy, utility and communications infrastructure, such as: petroleum and natural gas pipeline infrastructure; wireless, wireline and satellite communications; electrical utility transmission and distribution; power generation; and industrial infrastructure. The Company offers its services under the MasTec service mark. The Company present its continuing operations under five reportable segments: Communications; Oil and Gas; Electrical Transmission; Power Generation and Industrial and Other. The Communications segment performs engineering, construction and maintenance of communications infrastructure related to wireless and wireline communications and install-to-the-home. It perform engineering, construction and maintenance services on oil and natural gas pipelines and processing facilities for the energy and utilities industries through the Oil and Gas segment. The Electrical Transmission segment serves the energy and utility industries through the engineering, construction and maintenance of electrical transmission lines and substations. The Power Generation and Industrial segment serves the energy and utility end-markets and other end-markets through the installation and construction of conventional and renewable power plants, related electrical transmission infrastructure, ethanol facilities and various types of industrial infrastructure. The Other category includes small business units that perform construction services for a variety of end markets in Mexico and elsewhere internationally. The national or regional firms that compete with include Quanta Services, Inc., MYR Group, Inc., Dycom Industries, Inc., Pike Electric, Inc., Willbros Group, Bechtel Corporation, D.H. Blattner & Sons, Inc., M.A. Mortenson Company, General Dynamics, Black & Veatch, Wes Tower and Nexius. The Company is subject to state and federal laws that apply to businesses generally, including laws and regulations related to labor relations, worker safety and environmental protection.
