MasTec, Inc., is a Florida Corporation. The Company is an infrastructure construction company operating throughout North America across a range of industries. Its activities include, but are not limited to the engineering, building, installation, maintenance and upgrade of energy, utility and communications infrastructure, including: electrical utility transmission and distribution, power generation, natural gas and petroleum pipeline infrastructure, wireless, wireline and satellite communications, wind farms, solar farms and other renewable energy infrastructure and industrial infrastructure. The Company offers its services under the MasTec service mark. It serves a diversified customer base including leading pipeline, communications, power generation and utility companies in North America. As of December 31, 2012, the Company's top ten customers for its continuing operations were AT&T, DIRECTV, Mid-American Energy, Energy Transfer Company, Duke Energy, DCP Midstream, Dominion Virginia Power, Enbridge, Inc., Chesapeake Midstream Partners LP and enXco. The Company often competes with a number of companies in the markets in which it operate, ranging from small local independent companies to large national firms. The national or large regional firms that compete with the Company include Quanta Services, Inc., MYR Group, Inc., Dycom Industries, Inc., Pike Electric, Inc., Willbros Group, Bechtel Corporation, D.H. Blattner & Sons, Inc. and M.A. Mortenson Company. The Company is subject to state and federal laws that apply to businesses generally, including laws and regulations related to labor relations, worker safety and environmental protection.
