MWI Veterinary Supply, Inc. commenced operations as part of a veterinary practice in 1976 and was incorporated as MWI Drug Supply, Inc., an Idaho corporation, in 1980. The Company is a distributor of animal health products. Its products include pharmaceuticals, vaccines, parasiticides, diagnostics, micro feed ingredients, supplies, specialty products, veterinary pet food, capital equipment & nutritional products. It markets these products to veterinarians in both the companion animal and production animal markets. It also offers its customers services, including its e-commerce platform, technology management systems, pharmacy fulfillment, inventory management system, equipment procurement consultation, special order fulfillment, educational seminars and pet cremation. As of September 30, 2012, it distributed its products from fourteen strategically located distribution centers throughout the United States and one in the United Kingdom. The Company competes with numerous vendors and distributors based on customer relationships, service and delivery, product selection, price and e-commerce capabilities. Certain of it businesses involve the distribution of pharmaceuticals, and in this regard it is subject to various local, state, federal and foreign governmental laws and regulations applicable to the distribution of pharmaceuticals.
