NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc. was founded in 1971 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, or FINRA. The Company is a global exchange group that delivers trading, exchange technology, securities listing, and public company services across six continents. Its global offerings are diverse and include trading across multiple asset classes, market data products, financial indexes, capital formation solutions, financial services and market technology products and services. Its technology powers markets across the globe, supporting cash equity trading, derivatives trading, clearing and settlement and many other functions. In the U.S., the Company operates The NASDAQ Stock Market, a registered national securities exchange. In Europe, it operates exchanges in Stockholm (Sweden), Copenhagen (Denmark), Helsinki (Finland), and Iceland as NASDAQ OMX Nordic, and exchanges in Tallinn (Estonia), Riga (Latvia) and Vilnius (Lithuania) as NASDAQ OMX Baltic. Collectively, the exchanges that comprise NASDAQ OMX Nordic and NASDAQ OMX Baltic offer trading in cash equities, bonds, structured products and ETFs, as well as trading and clearing of derivatives and clearing of resale and repurchase agreements. Through NASDAQ OMX First North, Nordic and Baltic operations also offer alternative marketplaces for smaller companies. The Company operates and provides products and services in four business segments: Market Services, Listing Services, Information Services and Technology Solutions. Market Services segment includes derivative trading and clearing, cash equity trading, fixed income trading, and access and broker services businesses. Listing Services segment includes U.S. and European listing services businesses. Information Services segment includes Market Data Products and Index Licensing and Services businesses. Technology Solutions segment includes Corporate Solutions and Market Technology businesses.
