NGP Capital Resources Company is a financial services company organized in July 2004 as a Maryland corporation to invest primarily in small and mid-size private energy companies. The Company is a closed-end, non-diversified management investment company that has elected to be regulated as a business development company. It primarily invests in domestic oil and gas exploitation, development, and production businesses, but also invests in coal, power generation and distribution, and alternative energy companies. It focuses on providing debt and equity capital to the energy and natural resources as well as various sectors within the broader middle market including niche manufacturing, value-added distribution. The Company provides a range of customized financial structures including senior and subordinate debt, convertible debt, preferred equity, and project equity. Its objective is to generate both current income and capital appreciation primarily through debt investments with certain equity components. The Company is an affiliate of NGP Energy Capital Management.
