Newpark Resources Inc is a diversified oil and gas supplier providing products and servicesto the oil and gases exploration industry serving customers in North America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Latin America and Asia Pacific regions.

Newpark Resources Inc was organized in 1932 as a Nevada corporation. The Company is an oil and gas industry supplier providing products and services mainly to the oil and gas exploration and production industry serving customers in North America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Latin America and Asia Pacific regions. The Company's operations consists of two reportable segments, which offer different products and services to a relatively homogenous customer base. The reportable segments include: Fluids Systems and Mats and Integrated Services. Fluids Systems business offers customized solutions including technical drilling projects involving complex subsurface conditions, such as horizontal directional, geologically deep or deep water drilling. These projects require increased monitoring and critical engineering support of the fluids system during the drilling process. The Company provides drilling fluids products and technical services to markets in North America, EMEA, Latin America, and the Asia Pacific region. The Company also provide stimulation products (proppants), and other specialty chemicals and fluids and related services.Mats and Integrated Services segment provides mat rentals, location construction and related site services to oil and gas customers at well, production, transportation and refinery locations in the Northeast U.S. region, onshore U.S. Gulf Coast, and Rocky Mountain regions, and mat rentals to the petrochemical industry in the U.S. and utility industry in the U.K. These mats provide environmental protection and ensure all-weather access to sites with unstable soil conditions. The Company manufactures DURA-BASE composite mat system for sales as well as for use in the domestic and international rental operations. The Company's customers are integrated and independent oil and gas E&P companies operating in the markets that it serves. The Company's competitors include Schlumberger, Halliburton and Baker Hughes. The Company's business is affected by governmental regulations relating to the oil and gas industry in general as well as health and safety regulations that have specific application to its business.
