Business Description

Nutraceutical International Corporation was incorporated in Delaware in 1993. The Company is a manufacturer, marketer, distributor and retailer of branded nutritional supplements and other natural products sold mainly to and through domestic health and natural food stores. Internationally, it markets and distributes branded nutritional supplements and other natural products to and through health and natural product distributors and retailers. The Company manufactures and sells nutritional supplements and other natural products under numerous brands including Solaray, KAL, Nature's Life, LifeTime, Natural Balance, bioAllers, Herbs for Kids, NaturalCare, Health from the Sun, Life-flo, Organix-South, Pioneer and Monarch Nutraceuticals. It owns neighborhood natural food markets, which operate under the trade names The Real Food Company, Thom's Natural Foods and Cornucopia Community Market. It also owns health food stores, which operate under the trade names Fresh Vitamins and Granola's. The Company's competitors in the VMS Market that sell to the Healthy Foods Channel include a number of large, nationally known brands (such as Country Life, Enzymatic Therapy, Garden of Life, NBTY (including its Solgar brand), Natrol, Nature's Plus, Nature's Way, Now Foods, and New Chapter) and many smaller brands, manufacturers and distributors of nutritional supplements. The manufacture, packaging, labeling, advertising, promotion, distribution, and sale of the company's products are subject to regulation by numerous national and local governmental agencies in the United States and other countries. Their products include: (i) vitamins and minerals, (ii) herbs, (iii) specialty formulas, (iv) personal care products, (v) homeopathics.
