Orient-Express Hotels Ltd. was incorporated in the Islands of Bermuda. It operates as a hotel and travel company focused on the luxury end of the leisure market with exposure to both mature and emerging national economies. It has three business segments: hotels and restaurants, tourist trains and cruises and real estate and property development. Hotels currently consist of 41 deluxe hotels. Thirty-six of these are wholly or majority owned, and is referred as 'owned hotels'. The other hotels, in which it has unconsolidated equity interests and operate under management contracts. The Company's worldwide portfolio of hotels currently consists of 3,314 individual guest rooms and multiple-room suites, each known as a 'key'. The Company's owned hotels in Italy are, The Hotel Cipriani and Palazzo Vendramin, The Hotel Splendido and Splendido Mare, The Villa San Michele, and The Hotel Caruso Belvedere. In Portugal, it owns Reid's Palace and The Lapa Palace. Elsewhere in Europe, it owns Hotel de la Cite, La Residencia, Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons and Grand Hotel Europe. In the United States, the Company owns The Windsor Court, The Inn at Perry Cabin, Keswick Hall and El Encant. In Caribbean, it owns La Samanna. It Mexico, it owns Maroma Resort and Spa and Casa de Sierra Nevada. It South America, it owns Hotel das Cataratas, Copacabana Palace and Miraflores Park Hotel. It Southern Africa, the owned hotels are The Mount Nelson Hotel, The Westcliff Hotel and Orient-Express Safaris. It Australia, it owns The Observatory Hotel and The Lilianfels Blue Mountains. In French Polynesia, it owns Bora Bora Lagoon Resort and Spa. It Asia, the Company's owns Napasa, Jimbaran Puri Bali, Ubud Hanging Gardens, La Residence d'Angkor, La Residence Phou Vao and The Governor's Residence. It owns '21' Club, the famous landmark restaurant at 21 West 52nd Street in mid-town Manhattan in New York City. The Company's main European tourist trains, called the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, operate in two parts in a regularly scheduled overnight service between London and Venice and on short excursions in southern England. OEH owns 30 railway cars originally used on historic 'Orient-Express' and other famous European trains. The services are marketed as a continuation of the Orient-Express trains of pre-World War II years. One train is based in Great Britain composed entirely of Pullman cars with a capacity for up to 230 passengers. The other train is based on the European Continent and made up of Wagons-Lits sleeping car and day coaches with capacity for up to 190 passengers. They operate once or twice weekly mainly between London and Venice from March to November each year via Paris, Zurich and Innsbruck on a scenic route through the Alps. Passengers travel under the English Channel by coach on the Eurotunnel shuttle train.
