OGE Energy Corp was incorporated in August 1995 in the state of Oklahoma. The Company, together with its subsidiaries, operates as an energy and energy services provider that offers physical delivery and related services for electricity and natural gas in the south central United States. Its business is segmented into two areas - electric utility & natural gas midstream operations. The electric utility segment generates, transmits, distributes and sells electric energy in Oklahoma and western Arkansas. Its operations are conducted through OG&E and are subject to regulation by the OCC, the APSC and the FERC. Its service area covers 30,000 square miles in Oklahoma and western Arkansas, including Oklahoma City, and Fort Smith. The natural gas midstream operations segment consists of the Company's investment in Enable. Enable is engaged in the business of gathering, processing, transporting and storing natural gas. Its natural gas gathering and processing assets are located in four states and serve natural gas production from shale developments in the Anadarko, Arkoma and Ark-La-Tex basins. As of December 31, 2014, the Company owns and operates an interconnected electric generation, transmission and distribution system, located in Oklahoma and western Arkansas, which included 10 generating stations with an aggregate capability of 6,845 MWs. The Company is subject to change to federal, state and local laws and regulations.
