OGE Energy Corp was incorporated in August 1995 in the state of Oklahoma. The Company, together with its subsidiaries, operates as an energy and energy services provider that offers physical delivery and related services for electricity and natural gas primarily in the south central United States. Its business is segmented into three areas - electric utility, natural gas transportation and storage and natural gas gathering and processing. The electric utility segment generates, transmits, distributes and sells electric energy in Oklahoma and western Arkansas. Its operations are conducted through OG&E and are subject to regulation by the OCC, the APSC and the FERC. Its service area covers 30,000 square miles in Oklahoma and western Arkansas, including Oklahoma City, and Fort Smith. The natural gas transportation segment, through Enogex, provides an integrated natural gas midstream services. Enogex owns and operates approximately 2,284 miles of intrastate natural gas transportation pipelines in Oklahoma. It also owns and operates two underground natural gas storage facilities in Oklahoma. This segment competes with numerous interstate and intrastate pipelines, including several of the interconnected pipelines, and storage facilities. Natural gas gathering and processing segment, through Enogex, provides well connect, gathering, measurement, treating, dehydration, compression and processing services for various types of natural gas producing wells. This segment competes with master limited partnerships that are active in its region. It serves residential, commercial, industrial, oilfield, public authorities, and street light customers.
