The Company operates in one industry - online reservations and guest management solutions. Its ERB streamlines and enhances a number of business-critical functions and processes for restaurants, including reservation management, table management, guest recognition and email marketing. For restaurants that do not require the operational benefits of the ERB, offer Connect, a web-based solution that enables participating restaurants to receive reservations from its websites and mobile apps as well as the websites and mobile apps of its partners and restaurant customers. For diners, its websites and mobile apps enable them to quickly and conveniently find, choose and book tables at restaurants on the OpenTable network, overcoming the inefficiencies associated with the traditional process of reserving by phone. It measures business geographically based on two segments: North America and International. The commercial restaurant industry is divided into "quick-service" and "full-service" segments. The Company targets its offerings to full-service restaurants that accept reservations. It also has created Connect, a web-based reservation system. The design of its systems enables to provide real-time solutions to its restaurant customers and to diners. The Company offers its restaurant customers additional services to help fill more seats in their dining rooms. Its POP program lets restaurants offer diners bonus Dining Reward Points for reservations at select times. Participating restaurants pay a premium per-seated-diner fee for POP reservations. The Company has one issued patent which expires in 2020. It faces competition from local software-development and application service provider, or ASP, vendors.|
