GuruFocus Profitability Rank ranks how profitable a company is and how likely the company’s business will stay that way. It is based on these factors:

1. Operating Margin
2. Trend of the Operating Margin (5-year average). The company with an uptrend profit margin has a higher rank.
••3. Consistency of the profitability
4. Piotroski F-Score
5. Predictability Rank•

The maximum rank is 10. A rank of 7 or higher means a higher profitability and may stay that way. A rank of 3 or lower indicates that the company has had trouble to make a profit.

Profitability Rank is not directly related to the Financial Strength Rank. But if a company is consistently profitable, its financial strength will be stronger.

Howard Marks' Oaktree New Buys
Howard Marks oversees more than $76 billion in assets as founder and chairman of Oaktree, a value-oriented investment management firm, and just reported his second-quarter portfolio. Marks’ current view of the market is that investors can expect low returns going forward because the 30-year Treasury – which sets the bar for everything else – offers only a 3% yield, as he said in a Manual of Ideas interview in July. He cautioned investors not to overreach for yield by incurring too much risk. Read more...

Its products include automated optical inspection, automated optical repair, imaging and production systems used in the manufacture of printed circuit boards and other electronic components and AOI, test, repair and process monitoring systems used in the manufacture of flat panel displays. The Company also markets computer-aided manufacturing and engineering solutions for PCB production. In addition, through Orbograph Ltd., the Company develops and markets character recognition solutions to banks, financial and other payment processing institutions; and, through Orbotech LT Solar, LLC, is engaged in the research, development and marketing of products for the deposition of anti-reflective coating on crystalline silicon photovoltaic wafers for solar energy panels. The Company is continuing to develop technologies for use in other applications both within and outside the electronics industry. Its AOI systems use Orbotech's proprietary machine vision, electro-optics, precision mechanics, artificial intelligence, and imaging technology to automatically detect flaws and defects in products being manufactured or assembled by its customers. The Company's manufacturing activities for systems consist mainly of the assembly and testing of component and subassemblies that are acquired from third party vendors and subcontractors, and then integrated into a finished system. It competes with a number of small, independent suppliers or small business units of large companies which supply solutions for specific, and in many cases, single applications.
