Origen Financial, Inc. was incorporated on July 31, 2003. On October 8, 2003, the Company began operations when it acquired all of the equity interests of Origen Financial L.L.C. and its subsidiaries. Currently, most of the Company's operations are conducted through Origen Financial L.L.C., its wholly-owned subsidiary. The Company conducts the rest of its business operations through its other wholly-owned subsidiaries, including taxable REIT subsidiaries. The Company is an internally-managed and internally-advised Delaware corporation that is taxed as a real estate investment trust, or REIT. The Company is a national consumer manufactured housing lender and servicer. Currently it originates loans in 42 states and it services loans in 43 states. As of December 31, 2004, the Company's loan servicing portfolio of over 33,000 loans.
