Business Description

O'Reilly Automotive Inc was incorporated in 1957 as a corporation. The Company is a specialty retailer of automotive aftermarket parts, tools, supplies, equipment and accessories in the United States, selling its products to both do-it-yourself customers and professional service providers. Its stores carry an extensive product line consisting of new and remanufactured automotive hard parts, maintenance items, accessories, a complete line of auto body paint and related materials, automotive tools and professional service provider service equipment. Its extensive product line includes an assortment of products that are differentiated by quality and price for most of the product lines it offer. For many of its product offerings, this quality differentiation reflects "good", "better", and "best" alternatives. Its sales and total gross margin dollars are highest for the "best" quality category of products. The Company owns and operates 3,740 stores in 39 states, covering all regions of the United States except the Northeasy. The Company competes in both the DIY and professional service provider portions of the automotive aftermarket. It competes mainly with AutoZone, Inc., Advance Auto Parts, NAPA, CARQUEST, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. and the Pep Boys- Manny, Moe and Jack, Inc. The Company is subject to various federal, state and local laws and governmental regulations relating to its business, including those related to the handling, storage and disposal of hazardous substances, the recycling of batteries and used lubricants, and the ownership and operation of real property.
