Banco Santander SA is a commercial bank. The Company offers retail banking, wholesale banking, asset management and insurance services.

Santander is one of the largest global banks, with over EUR 1.3 trillion in assets and 14,000 branches. Its focus is retail banking, which generates 75% of profits. Additional operations include wholesale banking (20%) and insurance and asset management (5%). Roughly 40% of its profits come from Latin America, half of which is Brazil. Continental Europe, the U.K., and the U.S. account for 30%, 20%, and 10% of profits, respectively. Its main subsidiaries in the Americas are publicly traded, though the parent retains majority ownership.
