Pacific Drilling SA was incorporated under the laws of Luxembourg. The Company is an international offshore drilling contractor committed to becoming the preferred provider of ultra-deepwater drilling services to the oil and natural gas industry through the use of high-specification rigs. Its main business is to contract its ultra-deepwater drilling rigs, related equipment and work crews, mainly on a dayrate basis, to drill wells for its customers. As of February 15, 2013, it operates four drillships and has four drillships under construction at SHI, two of which are under customer contract. The Company's competition ranges from large international companies offering a range of drilling and other oilfield services to smaller, locally owned companies. The Company's operations are subject to stringent and comprehensive international, federal, regional, state and local laws and regulations including those governing the discharge of materials into the environment or otherwise relating to environmental protection.
