Parkway Properties, Inc., was formed as a corporation under the laws of the State of Maryland in 1996. It is a fully integrated, self-administered and self-managed real estate investment trust. It is engaged in the acquisition, ownership and management of office properties in submarkets in the Sunbelt region of the United States. It owned or had an interest in 50 office properties located in eight states with an aggregate of approximately 17.6 million square feet of leasable space at January 1, 2014. It performs commercial real estate leasing, management and acquisition services on an in-house basis. The Company competes with a considerable number of other real estate companies, financial institutions, pension funds, private partnerships, individual investors and others when attempting to acquire and lease office space in the markets in which it owns properties. Its properties are in compliance in all material respects with all federal, state and local ordinances and regulations regarding hazardous or toxic substances.
