Plantronics Inc together with its subsidiaries, is a manufacturer of communication equipment. It designs and markets communications headsets, telephone headset systems, and accessories for the business and consumer markets under the Plantronic brand.

Plantronics Inc was founded and incorporated in 1961 in the State of Delaware. The Company operates predominantly in the electronics industry and focuses on the design, manufacture, and distribution of headsets for business and consumer applications, and other specialty products for the hearing impaired. The Company develops enhanced communication products for offices and contact centers, mobile and cordless phones, and computers and gaming consoles. It offers products under two brands; Plantronics and Clarity. Its headsets are communications tools providing a hands-free connection to communication or entertainment devices, while also allowing freedom of movement for the users. It uses technologies to develop products that meet the needs of its customers, whether for communications or personal entertainment. Its headsets are widely used for applications such as Unified Communications (UC), in contact centers, in the office and in the home, with mobile phones and Internet telephony, for gaming, and for other specialty applications. Its product categories include Enterprise, which includes corded and cordless communication headsets, audio processors, and telephone systems; and Consumer, which includes Bluetooth and corded products for mobile phone applications, personal computer (PC) and gaming headsets, and specialty products marketed for hearing impaired individuals. Its products are sold under the Plantronics and Clarity brands. It Company ships its products to approximately 80 countries through a network of distributors, retailers, wireless carriers, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and telephony service providers. It has well-developed distribution channels in North America, Europe, and in some parts of the Asia Pacific region. It continues to expand into mobile, gaming and computer audio, and specialty telephone categories in those regions and other international locations. The Company's competitors include GN Netcom, a subsidiary of GN Store Nord A/S., a Danish telecommunications conglomerate that competes with it in the office, contact center, and mobile categories and, on a limited scale, in the gaming and computer audio categories. The Company is subject to various federal, state, local, and foreign environmental laws and regulations, including those governing the use, discharge, and disposal of hazardous substances in the ordinary course of manufacturing process.
