GuruFocus Profitability Rank ranks how profitable a company is and how likely the company’s business will stay that way. It is based on these factors:

1. Operating Margin
2. Trend of the Operating Margin (5-year average). The company with an uptrend profit margin has a higher rank.
••3. Consistency of the profitability
4. Piotroski F-Score
5. Predictability Rank•

The maximum rank is 10. A rank of 7 or higher means a higher profitability and may stay that way. A rank of 3 or lower indicates that the company has had trouble to make a profit.

Profitability Rank is not directly related to the Financial Strength Rank. But if a company is consistently profitable, its financial strength will be stronger.

Peregrine Semiconductor Corporation was incorporated in Delaware in February 1990. The Company is a fabless provider of high performance radio frequency integrated circuits or RFICs. The Company's solutions leverage its proprietary UltraCMOS technology which enables the design, manufacture, and integration of multiple RF, mixed signal, and digital functions on a single chip. It designs, develops, markets, and sells high performance RFICs based on its patented UltraCMOS technology. The Company's UltraCMOS technology enables it to monolithically integrate multiple RF and mixed signal components and digital circuitry into high performance RFICs. UltraCMOS provides the fundamental benefits of standard CMOS including high levels of integration, low power consumption, reusable circuit libraries, widely available design tools and outsourced manufacturing capacity, and the ability to scale to smaller geometries. It leverages its extensive design and process expertise and systems knowledge to develop RFICs that meet the stringent performance, integration, and reliability requirements of the rapidly evolving wireless markets. It offers a broad portfolio of more than 120 high performance RFICs including switches, digital attenuators, mixers / upconverters, and prescalers, and it is currently developing PAs, DTCs, and DC-DC converters. The Company's broad product portfolio includes both highly integrated monolithic RFICs as well as discrete components. It currently competes in the mobile wireless device and wireless infrastructure markets with Hittite, M/A-COM, NEC, Renesas, RFMD, Skyworks, Sony, Toshiba, TriQuint Semiconductor, and others. In the broadband, test and measurement equipment, and industrial markets, it principally competes with Hittite, M/A-COM, Renesas, Skyworks, and others. The Company's principal competitors in the aerospace and defense markets include Analog Devices, Hittite, M/A-COM, and others.
