QuinStreet, Inc. was incorporated in California on April 16, 1999 and reincorporated in Delaware on December 31, 2009. The company operates as an online vertical marketing and media company in the United States and internationally. It provides direct marketing services, including the delivery of leads or clicks, and display advertisements; and hosted solution and related services for clients in the direct selling industry. It operates in two segments: Direct Marketing Services (DMS) and Direct Selling Services (DSS). Its DMS business generates revenue from fees earned through the delivery of qualified leads, clicks and, to a lesser extent, display advertisements, or impressions. It delivers targeted and measurable results that it classifies into the following client verticals: financial services, education and 'other' (which include business-to-business technology, home services and medical). It expects DSS to continue to represent an immaterial portion of its business. Its competition falls into two categories: advertising and direct marketing services agencies, and online marketing and media companies. It's advertising and promotional information presented to visitors on its websites and its other marketing activities are subject to federal and state consumer protection laws that regulate unfair and deceptive practices.
