The Company operates within the following business areas, namely Life Sciences, Materials Sciences, and Innovation Center. The Life Sciences activities are bundled into two clusters: Nutrition and Pharma. The Nutrition cluster consists of DSM Nutritional Products and DSM Food Specialties. These businesses serve the feed, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, dietary supplements and personal care industries. DSM Nutritional Products is organized around three market facing entities: Animal Nutrition & Health, Human Nutrition & Health and Personal Care. The Pharma cluster includes the business group DSM Pharmaceutical Products (DPP), custom manufacturing organizations to the pharmaceutical industry. DSM's Materials Sciences businesses comprise the Performance Materials and Polymer Intermediates clusters. This cluster comprises DSM Engineering Plastics, DSM Dyneema and DSM Resins & Functional Materials. These business groups manufacture technologically sophisticated high-quality products, and meet the needs of customers through specialized and sustainable value propositions. The Polymer Intermediates cluster comprises DSM Fibre Intermediates, the global market and technology leader in caprolactam and the leading acrylonitrile supplier in Europe. The DSM Innovation Center was originally set up in 2006 to help facilitate the company's strategic transition toward an intrinsically innovative organization. It serves as an enabler and accelerator of sustainable innovation within DSM.
