GuruFocus Profitability Rank ranks how profitable a company is and how likely the companyÂ’s business will stay that way. It is based on these factors:

1. Operating Margin
2. Trend of the Operating Margin (5-year average). The company with an uptrend profit margin has a higher rank.
••3. Consistency of the profitability
4. Piotroski F-Score
5. Predictability Rank•

The maximum rank is 10. A rank of 7 or higher means a higher profitability and may stay that way. A rank of 3 or lower indicates that the company has had trouble to make a profit.

Profitability Rank is not directly related to the Financial Strength Rank. But if a company is consistently profitable, its financial strength will be stronger.

Business Description

Remedent, Inc. was incorporated under the laws of Arizona in September 1996 under the name Remedent USA, Inc. In October 1998, it was acquired by Resort World Enterprises, Inc., a Nevada corporation in a share exchange, and it immediately changed its name to Remedent USA, Inc. and later to Remedent, Inc. It specializes in the research, development, and manufacturing of oral care and cosmetic dentistry products. The Company is a manufacturer of cosmetic dentistry products in Europe. In 2006 it developed a revolutionary system for manufacturing and installing dental veneers which it branded as GlamSmile. GlamSmile veneers revolutionize the traditional one-at-a-time method of applying porcelain dental veneers.GlamSmile veneers are attached to the front of the patient's teeth using a patent pending single motion placement tray which replaces the traditional one at a time trial and error method of applying porcelain veneers, making the application less traumatic for the patient, much easier for the dentist and perhaps most important, far less costly than traditional dental veneers. Currently, the GlamSmile veneers are its primary products in the professional oral care and cosmetic dentistry product. The Company's veneers are supported by a line of professional veneer whitening and teeth sensitivity solutions. The Company's products are sold to professionals by distributors and sold directly to the consumers by its GlamSmile Studios. It has been a manufacturer and distributor of cosmetic dentistry products, including a full line of professional dental and retail OTC tooth whitening products which are distributed in Europe, Asia and the United States. It currently has two primary products: GlamSmile Veneers and Whitening Products. Until recently, its products included the FirstFit System, a proprietary, patent-pending system for the creation and placement of dental bridges and crowns. It initially started in the whitening business, by developing and marketing whitening products in combination with the worldwide appreciated high speed curing lamp RemeCure. The RemeCure plasma curing light uses plasma arc technology instead of LED and laser technology which provides high-energy power over the complete spectrum. The Company's GlamSmile involves a proprietary veneer fabrication technique and a patented single-motion veneer placement tray which are both guided by a proprietary computer imaging, design and digital preview system. The unique tray delivery system lets dentists expertly seat 10 ultra-thin, custom veneers in less than an hour while preserving tooth structure. It competes with Discuss Dental, Inc. and Zoom. As it markets dental products which are legally defined to be medical devices, it is considered to be a medical device manufacturer and as such it is subject to the regulations of, among other governmental entities, the United States Food and Drug Administration (the FDA) and the corresponding agencies of the states and foreign
