Rentrak Corporation operates as a digital media measurement, research, and distribution company, serving the entertainment, television, and advertising industries in the United States. It provides audience measurement services for movie, television, and advertising professionals to deliver their business goals and target advertising across various platforms, including box office, multiscreen television, and home video. The Company operates in two divisions - Advanced Media and Information, and Home Entertainment. The Advanced Media and Information division provides media measurement services across multiple screens and platforms, as well as via Web-based products within its Entertainment Essentials lines of business. This division offers consumer viewing and purchasing patterns through databases of box office results, as well as local, national, and on demand television performance to film studios, television networks and stations, cable, satellite and telecommunications company operators, advertisers, and advertising agencies. The Home Entertainment division delivers home entertainment content products, including DVDs and Blu-ray discs to home video specialty stores and other retailers from content providers; and offers related rental and sales information for that content to its pay-per-transaction system participating retailers. This division also provides direct revenue sharing services, which collect, track, audit, and report transactions and revenue data generated by DRS retailers.
