RBC Bearings Inc is a Delaware corporation was incorporated on March 23, 1992. The Company is a manufacturer and marketer of engineered precision plain, roller and ball bearings. The Company manufactures products in all bearing categories mainly for technical or regulated bearing products for specialized markets that require sophisticated design, testing and manufacturing capabilities. The Company operates in four business segments including; roller bearings, plain bearings, ball bearings, and other. It manufactures roller bearing components and assembled parts and designs and manufactures high-precision roller and ball bearings. The Company sells its products to a variety of original equipment manufacturers ("OEMs") and distributors. The Purchasers of bearings include producers of commercial and military aerospace equipment, automotive and commercial truck manufacturers, industrial equipment and machinery manufacturers, agricultural machinery manufacturers and construction, mining and specialized equipment manufacturers. It classifies its customers into two principal categories: diversified industrial and aerospace and defense. It manufactures bearing products and components for diversified industrial markets, including construction and mining, oil and natural resource extraction, heavy truck, rail, packaging and semiconductor machinery. It supplies bearings for use in commercial, private and military aircraft. It supplies bearings for many of the commercial aircraft currently operating worldwide and are the primary supplier for many of their product lines. This includes military contractors for airplanes, helicopters, missile systems, and satellites. Commercial aerospace customers generally require precision products, often of special materials, made to designs and specifications. The Company manufactures bearing products used by the U.S. Department of Defense and certain foreign governments for use in fighter jets, troop transports, naval vessels, helicopters, gas turbine engines, armored vehicles, guided weaponry and satellites. Bearings are employed to fulfill several functions including reduction of friction, transfer of motion and carriage of loads. It designs, manufactures and markets a portfolio of bearing products. The Company obtains raw materials, component parts and supplies from a variety of sources and generally from more than one supplier. Its principal raw material is steel. Its suppliers and sources of raw materials are based in the U.S., Europe and Asia. It purchases steel at market prices, which fluctuate as a result of supply and demand driven by economic conditions in the marketplace. It owns U.S. and foreign patents and trademark registrations and U.S. copyright registrations, and has U.S. trademark and patent applications pending. The Companys competitors include SKF, New Hampshire Ball Bearings, Rexnord and Timken. The Company is subject to various other federal laws, regulations and standards.
