Salisbury Bancorp, Inc. is a Connecticut corporation, which was formed in 1998. It is a bank holding company, which has one subsidiary, Salisbury Bank and Trust Company (the Bank). The company's principal business consists of the business of the Bank. The Bank, formed in 1848, provides commercial banking, consumer financing, retail banking and trust and wealth advisory services through eight banking offices, eight ATMs and its internet website. The Bank originates commercial loans, commercial real estate loans, residential and commercial construction loans, residential real estate loans collateralized by one- to- four family residences, home equity lines of credit and fixed rate loans and other consumer loans predominately in the States of Connecticut's Litchfield County, Massachusetts' Berkshire County and New York's Dutchess County in towns proximate to the Bank's 8 full service offices. A main lending activity of the Bank is to originate prime loans secured by first mortgages on one-to-four family residences. The Bank originates residential real estate loans through commissioned mortgage representatives. The Bank originates both fixed rate and adjustable rate mortgages. The Bank currently sells the majority of the fixed rate residential real estate loans it originates, except for certain long term fixed rate loans to borrowers with low to moderate income, to the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston under the Mortgage Partnership Finance program while retaining servicing. The Bank originates both residential and commercial construction loans. The Bank originates various types of consumer loans, including home equity loans and lines of credit, auto, and personal installment loans. Home equity loans and lines of credit are secured by one-to-four family owner-occupied properties, typically by second mortgages. Home equity loans have fixed interest rates, while home equity lines of credit normally adjust based on the Bank's base rate of interest. Consumer loans are originated through the branch network. The Bank provides a range of fiduciary and trust services and general investment management and wealth advisory services to individuals, families and institutions. The Bank faces strong competition in attracting and retaining deposits and in making loans. It is subject to regulation and regular examinations by the Federal Reserve System.
