Seadrill Ltd was incorporated in Bermuda in May 2005. It is an offshore drilling contractor. It provides drilling and well services to the offshore industry. It has a fleet of drilling units that is outfitted to operate in shallow water, mid-water and deepwater areas, in benign and harsh environments. The various types of drilling units in its fleet are: Semi-submersible drilling rigs, Drillships, Jack-Up Rigs, Tender Rigs. Its operating segments are: Floaters, Jack-up rigs, and Tender Rigs. Floaters segment offers services encompassing drilling, completion and maintenance of offshore exploration and production wells. The drilling contracts relate to semi-submersible rigs and drillships for harsh and benign environments in mid-, deep- and ultra-deep waters. Jack-up rigs segment offers services encompassing drilling, completion and maintenance of offshore exploration and production wells. The drilling contracts relate to jack-up rigs for operations in harsh and benign environments. Tender Rigs segment operate self-erecting tender barges and semi-submersible tender rigs, which are used for production drilling and well maintenance in Southeast Asia and West Africa. It provides operations in oil and gas exploration and development in regions throughout the world and its customers include major oil and gas companies, state-owned national oil companies and independent oil and gas companies. Its operations are subject to hazards inherent in the drilling of oil and gas wells, including blowouts and well fires, which could cause personal injury, suspend drilling operations, or seriously damage or destroy the equipment involved.
