Business Description

Simmons First National Corporation is a multi-bank financial holding company registered under the Bank Holding Company Act of 1956, as amended. The Company is engaged in providing a full range of banking services to individual and corporate customers through its subsidiaries and their branch banks with offices in Arkansas, Missouri and Kansas. The Company own eight community banks that are strategically located throughout Arkansas and conduct its operations through 88 offices, of which 84 are branches located in 47 communities in Arkansas, Missouri and Kansas. Its community banks feature locally based management and boards of directors, community-focused growth strategies, and flexibility in pricing of loans and deposits. Its community banks are supported by its main subsidiary bank, Simmons First National Bank, which allows its community banks to provide products and services, such as a bank-issued credit card, that are usually offered only by larger banks. Its community banking business model involves some additional administrative costs as a result of maintaining multiple bank charters, but has allowed it to maintain strong management at the local level to meet the needs of local customers while ensuring good asset quality. In addition the Company provides efficiencies through consolidated back office support for information systems, loan review, compliance, human resources, accounting and internal audit. The Company faces competition from commercial banks in its various market areas. In addition, it also competes with other providers of financial services, such as savings and loan associations, credit unions, finance companies, securities firms, insurance companies, full service brokerage firms and discount brokerage firms. The Company, as a bank holding company, is subject to both federal and state regulation.
