Standard Motor Products is an independent manufacturer and distributor of replacement parts for motor vehicles in the automotive aftermarket industry, as well as focusing on the original equipment service market. The Company is organized into two operating segments, Engine Management Segment and Temperature Control Segment. The Engine Management Segment manufactures ignition and emission parts, ignition wires, battery cables, fuel system parts and sensors for vehicle systems. The Temperature Control Segment manufactures and remanufactures air conditioning compressors, air conditioning and heating parts, engine cooling system parts, power window accessories, and windshield washer system parts. The Company sells its products to warehouse distributors, large retail chains, original equipment manufacturers and original equipment service part operations in the United States, Canada and Latin America. Its customers consist of warehouse distributors, including CARQUEST Corporation and NAPA Auto Parts, as well as auto parts retail chains, including Advance Auto Parts, Inc., AutoZone, Inc., O'Reilly Automotive, Inc., Canadian Tire Corporation Limited and The Pep Boys Manny, Moe & Jack. It distributes parts under its own brand names, including Standard, BWD, Intermotor, GP Sorensen, TechSmart, OEM, LockSmart, Four Seasons, Factory Air, and EVERCO. The Company's competitors include ACDelco, Delphi Automotive PLC, Denso Corporation, Robert Bosch Corporation, Visteon Corporation, NGK/NTK, General Cable, Prestolite and United Components, Inc, Dorman Products, Inc. and several privately-owned companies importing products from Asia. The Company's operations and properties are subject to a wide variety of increasingly complex and stringent federal, state, local and international laws and regulations.
