Smith Micro Software Inc develops and markets wireless solutions for wireless service providers, mobile device and chipset manufacturers, and enterprise businesses. Its operating segments are Wireless and Graphics.

Smith Micro Software Inc was incorporated on December 1, 1983. The Company completed its initial public offering on May 1995. Its portfolio of wireless solutions includes client and server applications that manage devices, communications and network connectivity for end-users as well as Machine-to-Machine endpoints. The Company's operations are organized into two business segments: Wireless and Graphics. In Wireless, the Company has developed a software portfolio comprised of three product families: QuickLink, NetWise, and CommSuite. The QuickLink solutions have been shipped approximately 100 million devices. This technology allows mobile users to easily connect a tablet, laptop or other wireless device to cellular or Wi-Fi networks. The mobile network operators, including AT&T, Bell Canada, Bouygues, Orange, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, and Vodafone offered QuickLink to their subscribers. NetWise platform manage data traffic, network authentication, user entitlement to wireless services, and device behavior. CommSuite services platform allows operators and enterprises to deliver and monetize voice, video and messaging applications. The Graphics group develops an array of software for the consumer, prosumer, and professional markets. The solutions include compression, graphics and utilities. It republishes and markets third party software titles to the existing line of products of the Company. These products are sold through the websites: smithmicro.com, mysmithmicro.com and contentparadise.com, and on affiliate websites, through customer service order desks, on-line resellers and through traditional retail outlets. Poser, Anime Studio, MangaStudio and MotionArtist helps digital artists in their animations, comics, and other 2D and 3D artworks. The StuffIt provides lossless JPEG compression, encryption and archiving. The Company provides technical support and customer service through online knowledge base, via email, live chat and by telephone. The Company, as of December 31, 2013, owned 79 U.S. patents.
