Southern National Bancorp of Virginia, Inc. is a corporation formed on July 28, 2004 in the State of Virginia. It is the holding company for Sonabank, National Association. All of the communities served by Sonabank are located in Virginia. Sonabank conducts full-service community banking operations from locations in Fairfax County (Reston, McLean and Fairfax), Charlottesville, Warrenton, Leesburg, New Market, Front Royal, South Riding and Clifton Forge, Virginia and in Rockville, Maryland and maintains loan production offices in Richmond, Charlottesville, Warrenton and Fredericksburg. The main business of Sonabank is the acquisition of deposits from the general public through its branch offices and deposit intermediaries and the use of these deposits to fund its loan and investment portfolios. Sonabank is a full service community bank that provides a number of financial services to its middle market corporate clients as well as to its retail clients. It also invests funds in mortgage-backed securities, securities sold with an agreement to repurchase, reverse repurchase agreements and securities issued by agencies of the federal government. The main sources of funds for its lending and investment activities are deposits, amortization and repayment of loans, prepayments from mortgage-backed securities, repayments of maturing investment securities, Federal Home Loan Bank advances and other borrowed money. It serves small to medium-sized businesses in its market with a number of unique and useful services, including a full array of commercial mortgage and non-mortgage loans. These loans include commercial real estate loans, construction to permanent loans, development and builder loans, accounts receivable financing, lines of credit, equipment and vehicle loans, leasing, and commercial overdraft protection.
