Support.com, Inc. was formerly known as Support.com, Inc. incorporated in the state of Delaware. It was founded in 1997 under the name SupportSoft, Inc. as an enterprise software provider, In June 2009 it sold its Enterprise business, changed name to Support.com, Inc. In January 2012, it expanded its small business capabilities through the acquisition of RightHand IT Corporation, a managed service provider for small businesses. The Company is now a provider of online care for the digital home and small business. The Company's technology support services and software products help install, set up, connect, secure, repair and optimize personal computers, printers, tablets, smartphones, digital cameras, gaming devices, music players, servers, networks and other technology. It offers one-time and subscription services, and licenses of its software products. The Company provides software and services in two segments: Consumer and Enterprise. In its Consumer segment, it provides premium technology support to consumers over the internet and the phone for a fee. It offers incident-based and subscription-based services to consumers through retailers, anti-virus providers and other companies who provide technology products and services to consumers. The company's Enterprise customers use its software to resolve technical problems for their customers and employees. Digital service providers use its products to automate the installation, activation and verification of broadband services, to reduce the cost and improve the quality of technical support, and to enable the remote management of devices located at their customers' premises. Corporate IT departments and IT outsourcing firms use its software to improve the cost-effectiveness and efficiency of technical support for employees through its integrated portfolio of proactive service, self-service and assisted service products. The Company's competitors include privately-held companies focused on premium technology services, providers of electronics warranties, call centers focused on technical support and broad-based service providers who offer technical support.
