Seaspan Corporation is a Marshall Islands corporation, incorporated on May 3, 2005. The Company is an owner of containerships and it charters them pursuant to long-term, fixed-rate time charters to major container liner companies. It owns and operates a fleet of approximately 69 containerships and has entered into contracts for the purchase of an additional eight newbuilding containerships and two existing containerships. Customers for its current operating fleet are CSCL Asia, HL USA, COSCON, CSAV and MOL. Customers for the additional 10 vessels would include MOL, Hanjin, and Yang Ming Marine. Its fleet portfolio consists of vessels including COSCO Glory, COSCO Pride, COSCO Development, COSCO Harmony, MOL Eminence, MOL Emissary, and Rio de Janeiro Express. The Company competes for charters based upon price, customer relationships, operating and technical expertise, professional reputation and size, age and condition of the vessel.
