Stantec Inc was incorporated on March 23, 1984, as 131277 Canada Ltd. The Company changed its name from 131277 Canada Ltd. to Stanley Engineering Group Inc on August 15, 1984, and from Stanley Technology Group Inc. to Stantec Inc on October 28, 1998. The Company professional services in the area of infrastructure and facilities for clients in the public and private sectors. The Company's services include planning, engineering, architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, surveying, environmental sciences, project management, and project economics for infrastructure and facilities projects. The Company's business segments are Buildings, Energy & Resources, and Infrastructure. The Buildings segment comprised of services in architecture, buildings engineering, project management, interior design, and functional planning for vertical infrastructure. The Energy & Resources segment provides environmental services, industrial engineering services, project management, and construction management services for private sector clients. The Infrastructure segment provides design and engineering services, with a small portion from project and construction management supporting transportation, water, and development projects for private and public clients. It operates in Canada, the United States, and rest of the world. The Company competes with other engineering, architecture, and other professional consulting firms.
