GuruFocus Profitability Rank ranks how profitable a company is and how likely the company’s business will stay that way. It is based on these factors:

1. Operating Margin
2. Trend of the Operating Margin (5-year average). The company with an uptrend profit margin has a higher rank.
••3. Consistency of the profitability
4. Piotroski F-Score
5. Predictability Rank•

The maximum rank is 10. A rank of 7 or higher means a higher profitability and may stay that way. A rank of 3 or lower indicates that the company has had trouble to make a profit.

Profitability Rank is not directly related to the Financial Strength Rank. But if a company is consistently profitable, its financial strength will be stronger.

Strayer Education Inc provides post-secondary education services for working adults. It offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in the fields including business administration, accounting, information technology, and health services administration.

Strayer Education Inc was founded in 1892. The Company through its wholly-owned subsidiaries provides post-secondary education services for working adults. The Company offers a range of academic programs through its wholly owned subsidiary Strayer University and the New York Code and Design Academy. Strayer University is an institution of higher learning that offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in business administration, accounting, information technology, education, health services administration, nursing, public administration, and criminal justice at 76 physical campuses, predominantly located in the Mid-Atlantic and Southern regions of the United States, and online. Strayer University also offers an executive MBA online through its Jack Welch Management Institute. By offering its programs both online and in physical classrooms, the University provides its working adult students more flexibility and convenience. The New York Code and Design Academy provides non-degree courses in web and application software development, at its campus in New York City. NYCDA is licensed by the New York Bureau of Proprietary School Supervision, but is not accredited and does not participate in state or federal student financial aid programs. It faces competition from various nontraditional, credit-bearing and noncredit-bearing education programs, provided by both proprietary and not-for-profit providers, including massive open online courses offered without charge by traditional educational institutions and other direct-to-consumer education services. As an institution of higher education accredited by Middle States and operating in multiple jurisdictions, Strayer University is subject to accreditation rules and varying state licensing and regulatory requirements.
