Sierra Wireless Inc was incorporated under the Canada Business Corporations Act on May 31, 1993. The Company operates in the wireless communications solutions industry, which involves providing voice and data services using cellular wireless technologies. These technologies include 2G, 3G and 4G LTE. The Company provides machine-to-machine devices and cloud services, delivering intelligent wireless solutions. With the sale of AirCard business in April 2013, the Company achieved a significant milestone in its pure-play transition. The Company has two reportable segments: OEM Solutions segment and Enterprise Solutions. OEM Solutions segment includes AirPrime Embedded Wireless Modules portfolio, including embedded wireless modules for PC OEM customers. These products enable OEM customers to integrate wireless connectivity into products and solutions. Enterprise Solutions segment includes AirLink Intelligent Gateways and the AirVantage M2M Cloud platform. The Company has introduced the Legato platform, an open source embedded platform built on Linux. Legato includes Wind River Linux, a commercial-grade Linux distribution with capabilities based on the latest open source technologies, along with a fully integrated application framework and tools. Further the Company introduced next generation of AirPrime modules and AirPrime AR7550 embedded wireless module. AirPrime MC7355 embedded wireless module has been certified on the Sprint network. For OEM customers the Company facilitates Sprint certification through its CTA authorized laboratory thereby eliminating the need for a third-party lab and reducing time to market. The Company's AirPrime EM7305 embedded wireless module had been integrated into the Toshiba Protégé Z10t - a high performance, Windows 8, Ultrabook that is equipped with a detachable screen. The Company launched a compact 3G intelligent gateway, AirLink LS300. The AirLink LS300 is quick to deploy, simple to manage. Since the Company's sales, engineering and research and development teams are located in offices around the world it can offer a portfolio of embedded modules and gateways, seamlessly integrated with secure M2M cloud services. The Company's devices are currently operating on more than 80 networks. The Company has shipped more than 80 million M2M devices. The Company's products are used by a variety of end-users and the users range from home consumers to mobile employees, to law enforcement personnel and utility workers as well as personal vehicle owners, commercial drivers, health care professionals, utilities and other enterprises. The Company's customers include original equipment manufacturers, resellers and distributors and mobile network operators.
