GuruFocus Profitability Rank ranks how profitable a company is and how likely the company’s business will stay that way. It is based on these factors:

1. Operating Margin
2. Trend of the Operating Margin (5-year average). The company with an uptrend profit margin has a higher rank.
••3. Consistency of the profitability
4. Piotroski F-Score
5. Predictability Rank•

The maximum rank is 10. A rank of 7 or higher means a higher profitability and may stay that way. A rank of 3 or lower indicates that the company has had trouble to make a profit.

Profitability Rank is not directly related to the Financial Strength Rank. But if a company is consistently profitable, its financial strength will be stronger.

Guru Investment Theses on Gentherm Inc

Mairs & Power Comments on Gentherm - Nov 23, 2016

Gentherm (NASDAQ:THRM) likewise lowered its guidance for the year as heated and cooled automotive seating has not grown as quickly as anticipated. We believe penetration is still relatively low and growth should improve in this key market. We are also excited by the company’s new product that will help regulate battery temperature in hybrid cars, improving battery productive life. It’s worth noting we had trimmed both positions on previous strength and are now taking advantage of current weakness to buy back some of those shares at more reasonable valuations.

Mairs & Power Comments on Gentherm - Feb 04, 2016

Gentherm (THRM) also was a top contributor to performance for the year. Gentherm supplies major automobile manufacturers with personal comfort modules for heating and cooling seats, steering wheels and cup holders. Through volume growth led by new platform wins, Gentherm was able to grow top line revenues at double digits while increasing the bottom line in the mid-teens as margin improvement took hold in 2015. This led to a nice increase in the stock price for the year. We believe the outlook remains positive for these products and for Gentherm’s business going into 2016.

Mairs & Power Comments on Gentherm - Dec 01, 2015

As the major provider of heated, cooled and vented seats and other solutions for automobile manufacturers, Gentherm (NASDAQ:THRM) continues to benefit from increased penetration of the traditional automobile market while a recent win in the hybrid/electric market creates a significant new opportunity for the company.

Mairs & Power Small Cap Fund Comments on Gentherm - May 22, 2015

The largest contributor to performance in the first quarter was Gentherm (THRM) which reported solid year-end results and provided a positive outlook for its core market; heating and cooling technology for automobile seats. Gentherm has been a consistent performer over the past few years as its products have become more of a standard offering as opposed to an upgrade and are now found on many mid-priced models as well as the high end segment. We continue to like Gentherm as the company broadens not only its heated/cooled products for the auto industry, but its pipeline for new products focused on other industries continues to advance and looks promising as well.

Mairs & Power Small Cap Fund Comments on Gentherm - Mar 31, 2015

Gentherm (THRM) (heating and cooling technology primarily utilized in automobile seats) was also a top performer for the year, though the stock was among the lowest performers in the fourth quarter as some of its business is tied to energy efficiency. Longer term, the company still appears well positioned regardless of what happens with oil prices.
