Business Description

LIN TV Corp. was incorporated on February 11, 1998, and LIN Television Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of LIN TV Corp., was incorporated on June 18, 1990. Lin TV Corp. is an independent television station owner and operator with stations located in the United States and Puerto Rico. The Comapny owns or operates 30 stations, including three stations according to local marketing agreements and three low-power stations. In addition, the Company has equity investments in five other stations. Its stations are primarily located in the top 100 markets. The Company provides free, over-the-air broadcasts of its programming 24 hours per day to the communities the Company is licensed to serve. The Company is committed to serve the public interest by providing free daily local news coverage, making public service announcements and providing political advertising time to candidates. The Company seeks to has the largest local television presence in each of its local markets by combining strong network and syndicated programming with local news, and by using its multi-channel strategy. This multi-channel strategy enables him to increase its audience share by operating multiple stations in the same market. The Company currently operates multiple stations in nine of its local markets. The Company's focus is to continue to enhance its existing and acquired television stations by applying its expertise in technology, sales and news research. All of the Company's stations in the United States are affiliated with one of the national television networks: ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, UPN, WB, Telefutura or Univision. In Puerto Rico, the Company's primary station broadcasts locally-produced entertainment and news programming, and its second station broadcasts MTV Puerto Rico, which it jointly produces with MTV. The Company also utilizes its locally-produced programming on WAPA America, a U.S. Spanish-language cable channel it launched in 2004. The Company owns and operates a number of low-power broadcast television stations in various local markets. These low-power broadcast television stations are licensed by the FCC to provide service to smaller areas than those of full-power stations. In certain markets, principally Albuquerque and Norfolk, these stations are used to extend the geographic reach of the primary stations. The Company's stations produce 624 hours of local news programming per week that it broadcasts on all but three of its stations. The Company produces each week 25 hours of local entertainment programs in addition to 42 hours of local news for its stations in Puerto Rico. These locally-produced programs are also used to program WAPA America, its US-based Spanish-language program service, carried by cable and satellite providers. The ownership, operation and sale of television stations are subject to the jurisdiction of the FCC by authority granted it under the Communications Act.
