United Community Bancorp is an Indiana corporation that was incorporated in March 2011 to be the successor corporation to old United Community Bancorp, the former stock holding company for United Community Bank, upon completion of the mutual-to-stock conversion of United Community MHC, the former mutual holding company for United Community Bancorp. The Company's business activities consist of the ownership of the Bank's capital stock and the management of the offering proceeds it retained. The Company through its subsidiaries operates as a community-oriented financial institution offering banking services and products to consumers and businesses in its market areas. It attracts deposits from the general public and local municipalities and uses those funds to originate one- to four-family real estate, multi-family real estate and nonresidential real estate, construction, commercial and consumer loans. It sells fixed-rate one- to four-family residential conforming loans with terms of more than ten years that it originates is sold in the secondary market with the servicing retained. The Company has five branches located in Dearborn County and three branches located in adjacent Ripley County. The main sources of loan originations are existing customers, walk-in traffic, advertising and referrals from customers. The Company's competition for loans comes mainly from financial institutions in its market areas, and, to a lesser extent, from other financial service providers such as mortgage companies and mortgage brokers. Competition for loans also comes from non-depository financial service companies which have entered the mortgage market such as insurance companies, securities companies and specialty finance companies. The Company as a savings and loan holding company is subject to reporting to and regulation by the Federal Reserve Board.
