Unisys Corporation is an information technology ('IT') company. It provides a portfolio of IT services, software, and technology that solves critical problems for clients. The Company specializes in helping clients secure its operations, increase the efficiency and utilization of its data centers, enhance support to the Company end users and constituents, and modernize its enterprise applications. To provide these services and solutions, the company brings together offerings and capabilities in outsourcing services, systems integration and consulting services, infrastructure services, maintenance services, and high-end server technology. Unisys serves commercial organizations and government agencies throughout the world. It operates in two business segments: Services and Technology. In the Services segment, it provides services to help its clients improve its competitiveness, security and cost efficiency. The Company's services include outsourcing, systems integration and consulting, infrastructure services and core maintenance. In the Technology segment, it designs and develops servers and related products to help clients reduce costs and improve the efficiency of its data center environments. It provides a range of data center, infrastructure management and cloud computing offerings to help clients virtualize and automate its data-center environments. Product offerings include enterprise-class servers, such as the ClearPath family of servers and the ES7000 family of Intel-based servers, as well as operating system software and middleware. The primary vertical markets Unisys serves worldwide include the public sector (including the U.S. federal government), financial services and other commercial markets including communications and transportation. The Company markets its products and services mainly through a direct sales force. Unisys purchases components and supplies from a number of suppliers around the world. The Company business is affected by rapid change in technology in the information services and technology industries and aggressive competition from many domestic and foreign companies. It owns about 1,170 active U.S. patents and about 130 active patents granted in 12 non-U.S. jurisdictions. The Company also maintains over 25 U.S. trademark and service mark registrations, and over 1,450 additional trademark and service mark registrations in over 135 non-U.S. jurisdictions.
