Business Description

Umpqua Holdings Corporation is a financial holding company, which is engaged in the business of commercial and retail banking and the delivery of retail brokerage services. The Company has two principal operating subsidiaries, Umpqua Bank and Umpqua Investments, Inc. The Company offers a traditional array of deposit products, including non-interest bearing checking accounts, interest bearing checking and savings accounts, money market accounts and certificates of deposit. The company also offers a seniors program to customers over fifty years old, which includes an array of banking services and other amenities, such as purchase discounts, vacation trips and seminars. The company engages in the retail brokerage business through Strand. Strand provides a range of brokerage services including equity and fixed income products, mutual funds, annuities, options, retirement planning and money management services. Additionally, Strand offers life insurance, disability insurance and medical supplement policies. The Bank serves individuals with liquid investable assets by providing customized financial solutions and offerings. The Company offers specialized loans for business and commercial customers, including accounts receivable and inventory financing, equipment loans, real estate construction loans and permanent financing and SBA program financing. Additionally, it offers specially designed loan products for small businesses through its Small Business Lending Center. Real estate loans are available for construction, purchase and refinancing of residential owner-occupied and rental properties. The Company provides loans to individual borrowers for a variety of purposes, including secured and unsecured personal loans, home equity and personal lines of credit and motor vehicle loans. The operations of the Company's subsidiaries are affected by state and federal legislative changes and by policies of various regulatory authorities.
