Universal Insurance Holdings Inc is a vertically integrated insurance holding company, which through its various subsidiaries, covers insurance underwriting, distribution, claims processing and exposure management.

Universal Insurance Holdings Inc was incorporated under the laws of the State of Delaware on November 13, 1990. The Company changed its name to Universal Insurance Holdings, Inc. on January 12, 2001. The Company is a vertically integrated insurance holding company, which through its various subsidiaries, covers substantially all aspects of insurance underwriting, distribution, claims processing and exposure management. Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Company (UPCIC), a wholly owned subsidiary of UIH, is a writer of homeowners' insurance in Florida and is now fully licensed and has commenced its operations in Georgia, Hawaii, North Carolina and South Carolina. The Company's primary product is homeowners' insurance. The Company's criteria for selecting insurance policies includes, but is not limited to, the use of specific policy forms, coverage amounts on buildings and contents and required compliance with local building codes. Also, to improve underwriting and manage risk, the Company utilizes standard industry modeling techniques for hurricane and windstorm exposure. Florida insurance companies are subject to regulation and supervision by the OIR.
