OJSC VimpelCom is a telecommunications operator providing voice and data services through through an array of wireless, fixed and broadband internet services, as well as selling equipment and accessories. As of 31 December 2012, the Company operated telecommunications services in Russia, Italy, Algeria, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Armenia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Central African Republic, Burundi, and Cambodia. The operations of these companies cover a territory with a total population of approximately 767 million as of December 31, 2012. The Company provides services under the 'Beeline', 'Kyivstar', 'djuice', 'banglalink', 'Mobilink', 'Telecel', 'Leo', 'Djezzy', 'Wind' and 'Infostrada' brands. It uses direct sales channels, indirect sales channels and telesales for consumer DSL. It is subject to regulation governing the operation of our business activities, such regulation typically takes the form of industry-specific laws and regulations covering telecommunications services and general competition law applicable to all activities.
