Vanguard Natural Resources LLC was formed in October 2006 and completed its initial public offering in October 2007. The Company is publicly traded limited liability company focused on the acquisition and development of mature, long-lived oil and natural gas properties in the United States. Through its operating subsidiaries, as of December 31, 2013, the Company own properties and oil and natural gas reserves mainly located in eight operating basins which includes the Arkoma Basin in Arkansas and Oklahoma; the Permian Basin in West Texas and New Mexico; the Big Horn Basin in Wyoming and Montana; the Piceance Basin in Colorado; the Gulf Coast Basin in Texas and Mississippi; the Wind River Basin in Wyoming; the Williston Basin in North Dakota and Montana; and the Powder River Basin in Wyoming. The Company's main customers include Marathon Oil Company, Plains Marketing, LP, JP Morgan Ventures Energy Corp RV, Bill Barrett Corporation and Shell Trading (US) Company. The Company competes with other independent operators and from oil companies in acquiring properties, leasing acreage, contracting for drilling equipment and securing trained personnel. Its business involving the acquisition and development of oil and natural gas properties is subject to extensive and stringent federal, state and local laws and regulations.
