Business Description

AB Volvo is a maker of trucks, buses, construction equipment, and drive systems for marine and industrial applications, as well as aircraft engine components. The Company is divided into nine segments: Volvo Trucks, Renault Trucks, Mack Trucks, Trucks Asia, Buses, Construction Equipment, Volvo Penta, Volvo Aero, and Customer Finance. The Volvo Trucks segment manufactures, sells, and services trucks for regional, long-haul, and construction jobs. The Renault Trucks segment offers trucks ranging from light to heavy-duty. The Mack Trucks segment manufactures heavy-duty trucks for construction and heavy duty transport. The Buses Segment manufactures city busses, coaches, and chassis. The Construction Equipment segment manufactures equipment for construction duties. The Volvo Penta Segment manufactures engines for recreational and commercial crafts, and provides systems such as gensets and water pumps. The Volvo Aero segment offers components for aircraft and space engines and applications. The Aero division focuses on producing lightweight air and spacecraft components to reduce the amount of fuel needed. The Customer Finance segment offers financing for customers and dealers. The Company's products are sold worldwide through owned and independent dealers.
