Ventas Inc is a real estate investment trust, with a portfolio of seniors housing and healthcare operations in the United States, Canada and United Kingdom.

Ventas Inc was incorporated in 1983. The Company is a real estate investment trust with a portfolio of seniors housing and healthcare properties located throughout the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. It invests in seniors housing and healthcare properties through acquisitions and lease its properties to unaffiliated tenants or operate them through independent third-party managers. The Company has three segments: triple-net leased properties; senior living operations and MOB operations. In triple-net leased properties segment, it invests in seniors housing and healthcare properties throughout the United States and the United Kingdom and lease its properties to healthcare operating companies under "triple-net" or "absolute-net" leases that obligate the tenants to pay all property-related expenses. In senior living operations segment, it invests in seniors housing communities throughout the United States and Canada and engages independent operators, such as Atria and Sunrise, to manage those communities. In MOB operations segment, it acquires, owns, develops, leases, and manages MOBs. Information provided for "all other" includes income from loans and investments and other miscellaneous income and various corporate-level expenses not directly attributable to its three reportable business segments. The Company is subject to various federal, state and local laws and regulations regarding environmental, health and safety matters.
